What is flow and why is it important to your company?

Flow is the true core of every person, encompassing everything from intuition to likes and dislikes. By understanding and following their flow your employees are at their most successful, all the time. That means they are 100% on board and committed to whatever wellness and personal development program they undertake.

When your employees live and work in flow everything they do is natural and not forced. That means they always maximize their true talents and abilities, contributing significantly more to your company’s wellbeing on a daily basis.

What prevents people from being in flow, being truly successful?

Everyone is born into ideal flow. That’s why people always associate babies with innocence. Over time, however, people accumulate flow blockages, things that prevent them from being their most successful. This occurs when people repress their true selves in order to conform to the world around them, both consciously and unconsciously. When people repress their true selves they end up doing everything “intellectually”, convincing themselves how to be successful based on what others say.

Classic example is a teenager in Alaska whose greatest dream is to be a surfer. In order to fit in with the world around him he tells himself that his dream is wrong and he must pursue another path in life. Thus everything he does is counter to his flow and his life will be a constant struggle to “find success”.

Why don’t traditional self help and similar programs work?

Traditional self help programs focus on the external, encouraging participants to “think” their way out of blockages. This approach neglects to take into account their flow, what makes them successful at the core and what prevents that success. The result is that, while they may accomplish some short-term goals, they will inevitably fail in the long term. This is why the majority of diets and exercise programs fail — people think they will succeed when the reality is the opposite.

Research bears this out. A University of Waterloo experiment, as reported in Psychological Science, demonstrated that positive thinking, the core of self help programs, only works when the thinking aligns with a person’s own self perception. In other words, a traditional self help program for the aforementioned teenager with surfing dreams will only work if the teenager pursues surfing.

This causes problems when it comes to your company’s wellness and personal development programs. Participants may tell themselves they are on board but chances are they aren’t.

What makes Learn About Flow’s approach different?

Learn About Flow programs teach your employees how to find and understand their flow, their true core. The secret is that they are counterintuitive in nature. Traditional programs take an external approach — participants are told what to do (and that it will succeed) and assume it will work for every participant. Positive thinking-based teaching is a classic example as shown above.

Learn About Flow takes the opposite approach by focusing on the internal. Participants learn to find their own power, what they are about from the inside, sometimes for the first time. They discover how to align mind-body-spirit in ways they were never able to before. That means they are able to accomplish any task, regardless of their job, faster and more efficiently with significantly better results. There is no guessing if a corporate wellness/personal development program will work, no “believing” that employees will be on board for it.

Whether you’re just implementing a wellness regimen or have had an ongoing program for years, Learn About Flow can accelerate your participants’ results, especially those in which your employees work one-on-one with a coach.

Or to put it another way, think of Learn About Flow as your employees’ education and your wellness/personal development programs as their “jobs”. We train your employees to excel at their work!

What if I don’t have an existing wellness/personal development program?
